DIANE DUFOUR

Diane Dufour, director of Magnum Photo from 2000 à 2006 was curator of numerous exhibitions, among which, Euro Visons at Centre Pompidou (2005) and L’Image d’après at the Cinémathèque Française (2007) and at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelone (2008).

In 2010, she created LE BAL with Raymond Depardon, by transforming and old dance hall from the 1920’s two steps from the Place de Clichy into a space dedicated to the image-document in all its forms: photography, video, cinema, new medias. Recognised internationally for the quality of its exhibitions, the BAL has also become a reference for its educational platform for pedagogical experimentation, which uses images to develop visual awareness in students from underprivileged areas.
Among the exhibitions presented at the BAL in the past two years, she was curator of d’Anonymes – L’Amérique sans Nom (2010), of Topographies de la Guerre (2011), and of Paul Graham (2012).

Since 2008, she is the director of the collection Les Carnets du Bal that explores, through new artistic, historic and anthropologic interventions, the stakes of our image culture, in partnership with l’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales and the Centre National des Arts Plastiques.

She was a member of the photography acquisition committee for the Fond National d’Art Contemporain from 2010 to 2012. In 2013, she was an external jury member for photography at the Villa Médicis in Rome and at the Fondation Nationale des Arts Graphiques et Plastiques.
